Acton Gardens Annual Construction Event
On the 15th October, Acton Gardens held their 2nd annual construction event. The day was well attended with 60 students from West Thames College and Twyford High School attending a variety of workshops on the day. The emphasis of the event was to encourage young people in education to seriously consider taking up a career in the building industry.
Throughout the day students learnt about the various areas of the construction industry and got a chance to try out skills such as bricklaying and carpentry.
The workshops consisted of:
· Three practical trade workshops (plumbing, carpentry, brickwork)
· Two ‘class-based’ workshops (architects and engineers presentations)
· A tour of the site at phase 7.1.
