Annual Christmas Tree lights switch-on event
The 2019 Acton Gardens Christmas lights switch on event took place on 21st November.
This event attracted many residents this year which was a good representation of the Acton Garden’s Community. There were over one hundred residents attending which contributed to the event being a great success.
The variety and large number of attendees made the event great fun especially as there was music, Christmas goodies, Santa and his Christmas Elf participating in the festive activities with the residents.
The switch on of lights led to a sparkling light up outside the community centre. The Christmas Tree when lit up was the centre of the evening’s festivities.
The Community Centre Green space after the light up was framed by glittering fairy lights twinkling merrily behind the Berrymede School choir. The children sang a festive melody and were applauded by the residents for their efforts. Other young residents who were part of the Bollo Brook Youth Centre also contributed by performing musical acts that were well received by the teenage and adult audience.
Amidst the festive experience, frothy warm chocolate and hot soup was enjoyed by residents who participated in the light switch on outside.
The evenings fun continued for residents with a range of indoor activities for all to enjoy.
Hot food, mince pies and warm drinks were a welcome treat after the residents came into the Community Centre from the light switch on to warm up and enjoy the activities of the evening.
Many children dropped into the workshops in the evening to make Christmas cards, have festive face painting, play music and enjoy balloon making. Children were also thrilled to receive presents from a jolly Father Christmas.
The events helped all staff and residents to get into the 2019 Christmas spirit early.
