Apology Letter To Residents Following Incident at Acton Gardens Community Centre
Dear Resident of Acton Gardens,
This is an important message from the management of the Acton Gardens Community Centre.
On the evening of Saturday 27 October use of the community centre led to significant antisocial behaviour at the centre, in Central Park and areas between the retail spaces next to Bollo Bridge Road.
his antisocial behaviour is not acceptable. It resulted from misuse of the centre and breach of rules that are in place for bookings. However, it is clear that our protocols require further strengthening and as such we are issuing this apology.
The booking was made for a birthday party, a type of community event we are normally keen to support. However, it appears that as a result of advertising through social media the number of attendees far exceeded the organisers commitments to us. As a result, we activated our emergency plan at around 8:00 PM, which included calling for police assistance to help close the event and safely disperse the crowd. Thankfully, no one was injured, but we fully acknowledge that the disturbances experienced by residents were completely unacceptable.
Our management team is conducting a thorough investigation to understand how this situation arose, especially given measures previously put in place after an unrelated incident earlier this year. Once this review is complete, we will hold a meeting for residents to share concerns and to outline additional actions to prevent any future incidents at the Community Centre.
As a precaution, until we are confident with reinforced protocols, we have suspended any party bookings that take place after 7pm
We apologise once again for the inconvenience caused.
