New York comes to Acton Gardens
Acton Gardens had the pleasure of hosting a group of community leaders, developers and policy and housing officials from New York this month for a tour of the development and round table discussion about involving residents in housing projects.
The trip was organised by the Citizens Housing and Planning Council (CHPC) in New York. The group are looking to learn more about how British housing authorities and affordable housing providers include residents in key decision making and the long-term maintenance of their homes. Their current public housing work is focused on how New York City can address their public housing crisis by learning from other cities and how to elevate the role of public housing residents along with the role of the affordable housing industry.
The group really loved visiting the new and existing blocks at South Acton and Acton Gardens and enjoyed learning more about our tenant offer and our shared equity and shared ownership models.
